Recognizing Prior Learning (RPL)

The Certifying Tire & Maintenance Technicians program is an assessment initiative tailored for individuals seeking employment opportunities in the automotive industry, particularly those with a background or interest in the field but lacking formal certification. Specifically devised for the Nova Scotia Automotive Industry, this innovative approach, known as “Recognized Prior Learning,” acknowledges and credits individuals for their existing knowledge and experience, irrespective of how they acquired it. By embracing this method, candidates can attain certification within a matter of months, expediting their entry into the workforce.

We currently offer two certification paths through RPL:
