Automotive Sector Council Project Updates
The Automotive Sector Council is excited to announce that the NS Department of Labour and Advanced Education have funded the following projects to be rolled out between now and 2023!
Pathways to Success
Automotive employers are challenged to bring new employees onboard where employing an untrained or inexperienced individual poses a safety threat to themselves as well as the existing employees.
The Automotive Sector Council is in development of an automotive preparation training course to address this challenge.
This training will allow potential candidates who have the aptitude and interest for the automotive occupations to gain the industry specific skills to enter the automotive workplace.
Virtual Portal for Attraction and Retention
Working with our partners at FitFirst Technologies, Automotive Sector Council is developing an electronic database to identify and capture talent in the entry and mid level positions of the automotive industry.
This digital platform will be designed to serve employers, jobseekers, apprentices and students. Data collected will inform decisions on future efforts for training and programming for attracting and retaining talent in the automotive industry.
Membership Database & Engagement App
Automotive Sector Council is investing in a Membership Engagement App to streamline communications and allow our members to more effectively engage with the Council and one another. Stay tuned on how you can get connected!
Experiential Learning Tool
To increase the industry visibility and footprint in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), Automotive Sector Council will be seeking to partner with a developer on a Motive Power augmented reality tool. This tool would introduce people to the Motive Power sector and highlight it as an exciting and engaging career path. Individuals will have an opportunity to explore work in the industry by immersing them in a digital recreation of the real experience.
Skills OnLine NS Industry Specific Safety Portal
Automotive Sector Council is in development of an online portal with tools for targeted safety training for one stop shopping for our Industry. The training will include mandatory/regulatory as well as mental health, labour standards and human rights.
