Thank you to all our industry partners who welcome TestDrive participants into your workplaces. By mentoring, encouraging, and sharing your knowledge, you are helping shape the next generation of Motive Power professionals.
The smiles on students’ and mentors’ faces show how meaningful these relationships become during the placement. The bond between a mentor and mentee is unique. When you share your knowledge, experiences, and lessons, you give students more than technical skills. You help them build confidence, character, and professionalism.
When you show the right way to do a repair, share stories about learning from mistakes, or give honest feedback and encouragement, your guidance makes a real difference. The patience, integrity, and pride you show every day reflect the mentorship you once received and will inspire these future technicians to help others.
Thanks to your commitment, students are building the skills, work ethic, and safety habits they need to become valued and reliable members of Nova Scotia’s Motive Power industry. This year, TestDrive placed all 35 participants across the province, and 29 of those placements were with new employer partners.
A Special Thank You to Our Champion Partners
We want to thank the Nova Scotia Department of Public Works and the Steele Auto Group for their outstanding commitment to the TestDrive program. Each group welcomed seven TestDrive participants this year, giving students valuable, hands-on learning experiences in supportive and professional workplaces across the province.
Your support for these young people is about much more than just offering a work placement. You have opened doors for rural high school students, helped them build confidence, learn new skills, and see what a positive workplace looks like. By giving your time, expertise, and resources, you are helping students find rewarding careers. Both partners have already shown interest in building on this relationship, from looking at longer-term or part-time roles for graduates to committing to an ongoing annual partnership with the Automotive Sector Council.
Thank you for giving your time, sharing your expertise, and helping shape the future of our industry, one student at a time. If your organization would like to become a TestDrive employer partner for next year’s group, we’d love to hear from you. Please contact the Automotive Sector Council at TestDrive@autocouncil.ca to learn more.
