Shift Forward is a hands-on career exploration and employment readiness program designed to help underemployed and underrepresented Nova Scotians discover meaningful opportunities within the automotive and motive power industry.
This program combines practical training, industry exposure, mentorship, and real-world experience to help participants build confidence, develop valuable skills, and explore rewarding career pathways.
Participants may receive:
- Industry safety certification
- Hands-on automotive training
- Mentorship from experienced professionals
- Workplace readiness and employability support
- Exposure to apprenticeship and career pathways
- Paid placement opportunities with industry partners
Shift Forward was created to remove barriers and create access to an industry that offers long-term careers, financial stability, and opportunities for growth.
Whether you have previous experience or are completely new to the trade, this program is designed to meet participants where they are and help them move forward with confidence.
Who Can Apply?
Applicants must:
- Be 17 years of age or older
- Be out of high school
- Be underemployed or facing barriers to employment
- Have an interest in learning about the automotive/motive power industry
- Be open to becoming an apprentice and having career in this trade
No prior automotive experience is required.
